Vickers Light Mk VI

When the Sharpshooters transitioned from armoured cars to tanks in 1940, the most plentiful vehicle type available was the diminutive Vickers Light Tank.  Though agile and quick, it was lightly armoured and only armed with two machine guns (0.5-inch and 0.303-inch Vickers MGs), so was of limited use against enemy tanks.

It was, however, ideal for training as it was relatively reliable and available in numbers that allowed unit exercises to help the Regiments learn tactics for tracked vehicles.

A later version was also issued – the Light Mk VI c – which had revised armament.  This had the slightly more powerful Czech designed Besa MGs, one 15mm version and one 7.92mm version.
