The Standard Bearer

John maintained his scouting links and renewed his promises in the presence of the King and Royal Family in St George’s Chapel, Windsor, in 1951.

He also had the honour of being part of the RAF contingent at the Coronation procession in 1953, and, as a standard bearer for the RAF, in the Golden Jubilee procession in 2002.

John also found time to serve in many capacities at St Clement Danes, the church of the RAF in London, and took part in the Lord Mayor’s Parade in London for over fifty years.

When the Reserve Air Units were disbanded in 1957 John joined the Sharpshooters, who were a natural choice for him because of the shared City of London heritage.
