The Interior Designer

The General Service Medal with Suez Canal Zone clasp

Active in the Old Surrey & Burstow Hunt and the Mid-Surrey Farmers’ Drag, he was a “thruster” across the country and also rode in point-to-points, often on inexperienced horses. Tim enjoyed the shooting field and pretending to read the memoirs of wartime generals, but his favourite pastimes were walking and building huge bonfires. He was also an honorary fellow of the British Interior Designers’ Association and a primary force in establishing interior designers as fee-earning professionals.

His last contact with the regiment came in the autumn of 2006 when he attended the regimental day at Hever at which today’s young Sharpshooters received their medals for service in Iraq.  Tim proudly wore his Egypt General Service Medal, which had only just been issued, for the first and last time.  It was a fitting end to a side of his life which always meant so much to him.
