Left Photo - Emerging from the river on the far side, a cable was used to gain extra traction onto the bank. The Engineers used their bulldozer effectively to reduce the incline of the bank and to help pull the tanks out of the river.
Right Photo - As further tanks make the crossing, the temporary bridge built by the Engineers can be seen in the background. It was clearly not strong enough to support the 30-ton Sherman, but supplies and medical support could be fed across to help the bridgehead develop.
