Family fun at our Home Front weekend

For the second year running our volunteers laid on a wide range of activities as part of Hever Castle's Home Front weekend. As well as guided tours of the museum, we provided free airfix model making, a map reading challenge, and talks on Operation Crusader and on Air Raid shelters. We were also delighted to provide young visitors with access to our handling collection. Here a family is having fun spelling names in semaphore.

Our permanent gate guards (the Saladin armoured car and the 25 pounder field gun) were proudly joined for the weekend by five additional military vehicles belonging to people in Kent and Sussex - as you can see in this photo.
